Kyla Brinkley
President [email protected] Kyla Brinkley is a third-year majoring in public relations and English, with a minor in Spanish. She became involved with NABJ during her first year at UGA, and served as the public relations chair during her sophomore year. She has also been involved with other UGA organizations such as the Public Relations Student Society of America, UGAzine and Alpha Lambda Delta. Kyla currently works as a marketing assistant within the UGA Department of Recreational Sports, and as an apprentice at See.Spark.Go, a public relations agency in Athens. She loves NABJ because of the connections and growth opportunities it provides students, and is excited to help the UGA chapter grow this year as president. |
Jamia Kenan
Vice President [email protected] Jamia Kenan is a third year journalism major and Studio Art minor, with a photography emphasis. She is also pursuing a New Media Certificate. Along with serving as Vice President of UGA's chapter of NABJ, Jamia serves as the managing editor for infUSion , UGA's first multicultural magazine. By working with NABJ and infUSion, she is to continuing her goal of illuminating the the importance of diversity within the media industry on campus. |

Wangechi Warui Membership Relations Co-Chair [email protected] Wangechi Warui is a second year pre-Grady and International Affairs student. Along with serving as one of the member relations chair personnel, Wangechi is also a member of the Red & Black, an on-air panelist for WUOG News, a volunteer for Newsource, a mentor for the Black Educational Support Team, and a member of the digital media society, Di Gamma Kappa. Wangechi hopes to serve as a voice to the many underrepresented countries in the media as an International Correspondent. |
Amber Haywood Membership Relations Co-Chair [email protected] Amber Haywood is a third year journalism major. She is new to NABJ but has been involved in Grady through volunteering for NewSource and being a part of the organization PRSSA (Public Relations Society of America). Along with NABJ she is also the Public Relations Chair for B.E.S.T. (Black Educational Support Team). Nsenga K. Burton, Ph.D. is a media scholar with over 15 years of experience teaching at the college-level. She is an award-winning professor, multimedia journalist and blogger, filmmaker and producer. Currently, she serves as editor-at-large for The Root (a Univision company) and contributor to Huffington Post Black Voices where she writes media criticism. In 2012, Dr. Burton founded The Burton Wire, an award-winning news blog that covers global Black and Afro-Latino populations. In addition to her work as a journalist and professor, Nsenga is a leader in the field of technology and diversity, serving as Executive Director of the National Association of Multicultural Digital Entrepreneurs for the past three years and the head of her new media consulting firm, The Burton Wire Media Group. Dr. Burton is Digital Editor of Grady Newssource at the University of Georgia and teaches multimedia journalism at UGA. Nsenga is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. Within his role, Kelvin Direct the day-to-day experiential programs strategy for the undergraduate and graduate experience within Grady College. He earned his bachelor degrees from Austin Peay State University and his master’s degree from Florida State University. Kelvin is involved in a variety of national career development and higher education administration associations.
